Design Thinking Workshop 2

Date : 2023-11-22

Venue : Phyaram. Surin

Agenda

2nd Workshop on Design Thinking

The workshop started at 9:00 hr at the OTOP Centre in the village. There were 30 participants. The objectives of the workshop were to develop design thinking skills for the participants, so that they can adapt it innovatively for community development purposes, particularly on sericulture farming, to be prepared for climate change impacts.

The 30 participants, comprising community leaders and youth representatives, were divided into 4 groups for brain storming activities to ideate the future they see together for Phyaram community.

The outstanding element of design thinking is involving as many stakeholder as possible in the process to elicit their various knowledge and experiences in ideating solutions and analytical prospectives. This will create the balance of choices to select from for future solution.

To create shared, added value for community members should be a goal for any design thinking project. The final solution should them be one that is sustainable, environmentally friendly, and climate resilient.

The result of this 2nd design thinking workshop found that the four working groups have been able to successfully define their solutions and ideate the variables and indicators contributing to their goals of shared value for the community to adapt to climate change impacts.

Next step is for the members of each group to interview stakeholders involved in each of the goal solutions, to verify that they actually exist. Then, they can cross-check the understanding towards those stakeholders as to what they actually want for the future of the community in relation to sericulture activities. This information will be useful for the 3rd design thinking workshop scheduled in March 2024.

The group members are also requested to review the result of their brainstorming session to see if they need to add any information or modify their solutions.
