Summary of the training

1) The facilitator is the organizer of the learning process. If compared with the work of the FCS – Thailand team, it is the role of the facilitator when we organize activities. We tend to act as a learning process organizer, which is very different from being a lecturer or presenter.

2) Lecturer is a person who gives knowledge. A speaker prepares information to speak. And if it is a lecturer who only talks, there is no way to facilitate the learning process with two-way communication. That learning period may only be 30 percent. If you study today or listen today, you will forget it when you leave the meeting room.

3) What tools should be used to facilitate the learning process? Knowledge and experience of the FCS – Thailand and existing knowledge and experience such as writing projects, conducting evaluations, community coaching, youth coaching to create learning, and learning design, etc.

4) In being a facilitator or organizer of the learning process, the team must prepare the following items:

·           4.1.  Prepare necessary facilitation materials and equipment such as chart paper, art lines, slides, etc.

 ·          4.2. A venue that allow plenty of learning space and atmosphere.4.2 A venue that allow plenty of learning space and atmosphere.



5) In organizing the team facilitation learning process, who should be there and what are their roles?

·           5.1 The main facilitator perform the main role, presenting the content and leading the learning process. They must be people who have a clear understanding of the matter and understand the issues. The facilitator leads the participants to meet the goals and objectives of organize a learning lesson each time.

·           5.2 Assistant facilitator serves to encourage the participants to be on board on the issue. They also support the lead facilitator when some important points may be missed to ensure learning objectives are met. (The main facilitator and assistant must be a team that understands the goals and process of the session and they have to learn each time together.)

·           5.3 Supporting team members such as timekeepers/middle runners/training or process recorders/process observers

·           5.4 Registration and financial accounting team in each arrangement

·           5.5 Communication team such as photographer, recording images and VTR


6) What we have learned in this training?

The facilitator is a key person to lead organization of ideas. This helps us reconsider the work of FCS – Thailand team over the past 10 years. It has been a learning process that allows us to understand the value of ourselves and the organization and that we are able to raise up to the level and develop our learning further. If we improve ourselves to be an organization with learning and using growing mindset, we will become a team that values everyone equally, seeing opportunities to take action for development and achieve our goals more efficiently.
