Summary of the training
Design Thinking is a process of designing ideas. It is a tool for finding solutions that understand the people, the environment, while listening to the voices from everyone to understand the problems, finding ideas, developing prototypes to solve problems and expanding results.
The process of design thinking is:
1. INSIGHT : It is the process by which we understand the community's problems in a comprehensive manner, seeing the people, their way of life, their time, and the environment surrounding them such as climate change impacts, which is the most current state of change in the community. We also have to verify the networks that communities have, their cooperation, their preferences, their emotions, as well as various feedbacks and suffering issues.
• In learning, we took post-it notes from which the community expressed their opinions and pictures of the problems of the Phyaram community, which had been brainstormed and registered various important issues to be able to see the overall picture of the situation and problems of farmers who grow mulberry and conduct sericulture in Phyaram.
2. IDEA : Is a session to brainstorm ideas to solve problems. FCS – Thailand have seen images of the session where community leaders and youth in Phyaram community brainstormed ideas for solving the problems of farmers who grow mulberry in sericulture. There are also many interesting ideas from young people, such as the idea of growing mulberries and raising sericulture on Mars, the idea of extending the wisdom of parents' generation of farmers to the new generation of youth in the community, the idea of growing mulberries and raising sericulture that uses smart water, or intercropping of mulberry fields to increase income, etc.
3. PROTOYPE : It is a development of prototype or modeling of the solution to a selected problem, by taking the problems from brainstorming session and developing them into prototypes and testing those ideas. For example, FCS – Thailand will have prepared a prototype for community potential development work. We will experiment with ideas to solve problems through actual practice, testing with users and receiving feedbacks. Modeling helps us see the prototype of an innovation and answer the question of how realistic it can be. If it is a product, you must see how suitable it is for use.
4. TEST : Testing is actually taking action to test whether and what the users will preper, what is actually possible, or what needs to be improved.
What have we learned in this design thinking training?
We have learned that design thinking is a process that brings together a variety of ideas. It helps us so as not to get stuck in the same old box of thinking. It is to brainstorm for various creative ideas. Therefore, the people who carry out the design thinking process are very important. And if it is someone who also understands the process, it will help create innovative work, new actions or solutions to new problems that are occuring. The modeling process is also the same.
We should act quickly to model a solution as it doesn't take much time, so that we can bring ideas or improve ideas to develop further quickly. If not, the idea must be improved and try and TEST again and again in a loop until you get the perfect innovation. Design thinking is a process that must be developed all the time, and if understood, it will lead to solving ongoing community problems and mitigate future adversaries.
